"The physical spaces they choose to work from lend credibility to what they do. It matters to people that they are right here with us."
- Veatrice Farell - Deuces Live
"Nixon & Co.'s work gives us rhythm. It's like jazz."
- Thomas Bates - City of Charlotte
What sets Nixon & Co. apart is that there is no reliance on a set way of doing things. The experience has been completely customized.
- David Skelly - Yale Peabody Museum
We provide innovative solutions to the community/non-profit organizations and Pre K-16 education partners that promote a stronger sense of a diverse, human-centered culture and organizational purpose.
People are the heart. Processes become simpler. Practice is transformed.
We get proximate and uncover the unique impediments facing partners by creating community. We recognize that the power to change lies within the existing environment and value the knowledge held by those who do the work every day. We learn first, then collaborate to develop a collective understanding and use that lens to address issues rather than prescribe solutions. We leverage the power of co-creation while cultivating environments where individual contributions are honored and incorporated into the missions, visions and strategies of our partners.

What influences our approach?
We seek to inspire our partners to think differently about their work and aim to encourage their communities to invest in the process of transformation by sharing a clear and uncomplicated path forward built on co-creation & mutual benefit.
We are intentional in our work of aligning systems to the needs and aspirations of people because we have the collective expertise.
We are confident in our approach that results in proof points that validate the unique, effective contributions we make to our partners.
We avoid overly complex language and industry jargon. Common language matters!
Who are we? Why are we different?
In a moment when terms like cultural competence and equity are being reduced to buzz words, Nixon & Co. delivers true value to its partners. That difference lies in who we are and who we are committed to.
Rooted in community, we are a network of educated, conscious practitioners who have walked the path of the disenfranchised. We have grown up in systems that did not consider us, did not fit us, did not resemble us. The key to changing what ails the world is in our DNA – is in our experience.
We know that human-centered action is the only good action and in conveying that to our partners, we demonstrate it. We consider our partners’ unique position as we push them to develop inclusive practices.
The work our associates do with partners is authentic and considers its impact to the systems that hamper the impact of their people and culture. We meet partners where they are and take them to what is next level in their own context while celebrating flexibility and authenticity.

We believe in holding open, community-facing space that ensures a safe & non-transactional experience for the partner/communities we serve. This starts with proximity to many of the assets (neighborhoods, cultural identities, community values) required to solve some of tomorrow’s most complex problems. The next time you’re in Charlotte, NC or St. Petersburg, FL, drop in and catch the vibe.
